After 35 years (and still counting) in the working world, I can barely contain my enthusiasm for this newfound outlet! Now I&#8217;m devoting my full attention to family, and of course, carving!<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:media-text {\"mediaPosition\":\"right\",\"mediaId\":407,\"mediaLink\":\"https:\/\/farrsites.net\/Crafts\/?attachment_id=407\",\"mediaType\":\"image\",\"mediaWidth\":54} -->\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 54%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\"><!-- wp:paragraph {\"placeholder\":\"Content\u2026\"} -->\n<p class=\"\">As a newly retired guy, some of the first things I did was to drive 3 hours to visit my dad on a Tuesday, and 3 hours in the other direction to attend the Ridgeway Carving Rendezvous (as a spectator) on a Thursday. Also, for the first time I am free to participate in multi-day carving events! My first event will be the Erin Wood Festival. Carving conditions will be &#8220;primitive&#8221; until the ground firms up and I can take delivery, but that&#8217;s OK.  I need to practice these conditions for the Erin Woodfest!  Here I&#8217;m working on a Pelican on the empty workshop site. The first was a Pok\u00e9mon character (Sudowoodo), and the second was &#8220;Bluey&#8221;.  I hadn&#8217;t heard of either until I was asked to carve them and ended up falling in love with both!
